I am cycling across Canada to raise awareness for
Spinal Cord Research. By traveling, visiting, and speaking in communities across Canada, I
hope to raise the awareness of Spinal Cord Injury.

I was seriously injured in a kayaking accident
two years ago in South America. Up until that time, I had intended on obtaining a position
on the Canadian Olympic squad for the year 2000.
I was pulled from the river and sent to a private hospital
where a team of six surgeons repaired my crushed vertebrae. At the end of seven hours of
surgery, they removed some bone from my hip and transferred it between my fifth and sixth
vertebrae. I lay in the hospital for three weeks and remained in a neck brace for four
months. I no longer had a chance of ever becoming an Olympic athlete.
It has been just over two years since the accident,
and I have some loss of mobility, but I am challenging myself to a dream of cycling across
Canada to raise the awareness for Spinal Cord Research. It was by chance that I survived
the accident and suffered no permanent damage but there have been millions of others who
can no longer function as they did before their injury. I want to help find a cure for
this cause, to get people back on their feet and prove that miracles do exist.
It is only a matter of when we find a cure, through research, a cure
will be found. This research is made possible by donations from people or organizations
like you, and together we can help make a difference in the lives of millions who suffer
spinal cord damage.
Please help me make a difference, make a donation to the British
Columbia Paraplegic Foundation (BCPF) to help others rise from their sleeping bodies. Click here to go to the pledge page where you will also find the
BCPF address and phone number. To gather information about my tour please click here and read my diary. To go to my progress page, click here. To send me a message, click
